Before you know it, it will be time for the kids to head back to school.
That’s why the United Way of South Mississippi and Walmart have teamed up to make sure that every kid gets a head start to their school year.
For some families, purchasing school supplies can be a huge financial burden. This is where the ‘Fill the Bus’ campaign steps in to help. This annual campaign gives school supplies to local families in need so they can have the tools necessary to succeed in school.
The Walmart Supercenters in Harrison, Hancock, Pearl River, and Stone County will have ‘Fill the Bus’ donation boxes where you can drop off the school supplies. United Way CEO Kathy Springer said, “We collect the supplies in a particular area, those supplies stay in that area. We don’t transport them all over the place. So, if those supplies are collected in Biloxi they stay in Biloxi. If they are collected in Picayune they will stay in Picayune so that is a great thing.”
The school supply lists are located in all of the Walmarts. If you would like to donate you have until the 31st of this month.
