The Mississippi Highway Patrol just ended their Fourth of July enforcement period which ran from July 3rd at 12:01 a.m. and concluded on July 4th at midnight.
During the enforcement period, MHP issued 3,300 citations with 43 DUI arrests. They also investigated 63 crashes throughout the state.
Nine people were injured in wrecks and one person was killed. The person who was killed was Zae Crain, the former Gulfport High School football player.
Local troopers tell News 25 they will be out in full force throughout this weekend as people continue on with their Independence Day celebrations.
