The heat will be on once again today and being cumulative, conditions will feel miserable. Numbers a just shy of heat advisory criteria but there will be a few areas that could reach heat index values of 108+ over shallow water marshes and lakes where humidity levels can be maintained higher. The moisture is the only thing for most of the area that is just barely lacking. But this does not mean conditions will not be dangerous for those spending long periods outdoors doing strenuous activities.
Some changes coming to the forecast but the first will be slow. At the moment, we continue to be stuck under high-pressure that will keep all activity from developing. This will slowly shift west over the next few days allowing a slow return to a few showers/t-storms to dot the landscape by week’s end. A general weakness will exist from the Atlantic across GA/FL and into the NE gulf during this period. Models want to develop a disturbance on the tail end of this weak troughing over the NE gulf by the end of next week. This is not surprising as surface weaknesses over the gulf this time of year can fester. The future path of anything that tries to develop is in question since this time frame is so far out at the moment.
