The oldest golf course in Mississippi is being foreclosed on.
The Great Southern Golf Club has been open since 1908. Sources tell News 25 that the auction price is set to be around $3.4 to $3.8 million.
Many members are upset to hear about the news that the golf club will be closing, like Tommy Snell who has been going to the Great Southern Golf Club since he was a kid. “I grew up there. We moved to Gulfport when I was ten and I can remember playing number six and number three and number seven. It made a little triangle and when I was a little kid I could play those three holes. My mom would call me in for dinner. I lived right there on Venetian Gardens right there on the sixth green. That is where I grew up.”
The public auction date is set for July 8th.
