Whether or not the New Orleans Saints forgive the outcome of the New Orleans No-Call, they certainly haven’t forgotten, but now it’s almost time for mandatory minicamp, 141 days since that whistle was swallowed.
The Saints are coming off their second straight NFC South division title and return most of the key pieces that got them to the NFC championship game for the first time since 2009.
It’s really hard to remember anything other than the way that game ended against the Los Angeles Rams which has Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis still thinking what if with a heavy dose of optimism as camp gets under way tomorrow.
“I don’t know that you ever turn the page when you feel like you had a chance and an opportunity to get to the Super Bowl and you didn’t get there, no matter what happens. That will stay with us forever. But we had a good season last year, we’ve got such a great locker room, great guys and I think we’re all excited about what we might be able to accomplish this year. But what we did last year doesn’t mean anything to this year so we have to prepare, we have to come into camp ready to have that sense of urgency and have a great season.”
The Saints just celebrated their third annual Hall of Fame Weekend right here on the Gulf Coast. They’ll be running minicamp Tuesday through Thursday.
