Ole Miss simply dominated their way through the Oxford Regional, outscoring teams by a combined 41 to 7 capped off by Sunday’s 19-4 shelling of Jacksonville State.
It’s hard to believe this was the same Ole Miss team that lost six out of its last seven regular season games before advancing all the way to the SEC title game and now to the program’s first Super Regional since 2014.
Left fielder Thomas Dillard said, “I remember sitting at this table last year after we lost to Tennessee Tech, same spot. Not really a good feeling, a really dark feeling knowing that everybody is going to leave, go to summer ball, get drafted, everything. It’s a great feeling knowing that we’ve got another weekend versus Arkansas. It’s going to be a fun series and I’m proud of the boys and excited to see what’s coming.”
Ole Miss Head Baseball Coach Mike Bianco said, “I’m happy, the guys that were on last year’s team. Everybody deserves this, even the new guys. But the guys that were here last year deserved today and deserved to finish their last games at Swayze Field like this.”
The Rebels now travel to Arkansas for their first Super Regional in five years.
