The continued success of Southern Miss at the Conference USA Tournament has certainly helped the turnout of the event.
After rain dampened the tournament last year, the Conference USA Tournament bounced back this season with an estimated $25 million brought to the Gulf Coast.
Officials with the tournament couldn’t be happier with the turnout for the Southern Miss games, however the low attendance for all other games is concerning. Tim Bennett with Overtime Sports said, “When you look at any of the other teams that are playing, the stadium has about 100 to 200 people in it. That doesn’t go very well as far as attendance is concerned. Financially, it probably hurts a bit, but we’re blessed to have USM be as good as they are.”
The Conference USA Tournament is signed on to return next season, however the future after next season isn’t guaranteed.
