Lively crowd at day two of C-USA Championship

Coming off the heels of yesterday’s win, Southern Miss fans came out in full force to watch the Golden Eagles take on Marshall.

It was a hot start for Southern Miss. In the first inning they sent two runs to the board after a home run. This got fans on their feet.

This was USM’s second appearance at this year’s C-USA Championship and fans did their best at filling up MGM Park.

News 25 caught up with some Southern Miss fans before the game and everyone had a hopeful spirit. They said there is nothing like being a Golden Eagle fan, especially during the C-USA Championship. Former Southern Miss player Ricky Sutherland said, “Oh, I am an Eagle fan. I played for the Eagles back in the 70s and ever since Corky Palmer was the coach I started following them again. I am a season ticket holder in Hattiesburg. If the Eagles are playing nearby I am going to watch them.”

Southern Miss fan Linda Richardson said, “It is a fun group of people and MGM is a great place for a ballgame. It is just exciting.”  Southern Miss fan Chris Richardson said, “We just hope we go right to the end. We would like to be around Sunday to watch that championship game.”
