Many people on the Coast were tuned in to watch the Preakness on Saturday.
As people watched the race at the local casinos, they probably didn’t realize that the horse that won the Preakness, War of Will, has major ties to South Mississippi.
Chris Broadus is the farrier of War of Will and he was born right here on the Gulf Coast.
While he no longer lives here, his family does and South Mississippi is where Broadus learned how to shoe a horse. “It really is a privilege. A lot of luck meets preparation type of deal. They are some of the best horses in the world. They are some of the most beautiful animals and that horse in particular, War of Will, he’s probably the most beautiful animal I’ve ever shod.”
