Since 1989 the Gulf Coast Community Foundation has been providing opportunities for people in South Mississippi to invest in charitable causes.
Now after 30 years the GCCF cut the ribbon this afternoon to establish the Gulf Coast Hub for Volunteers and Nonprofits.
The hub will provide services to volunteers and nonprofits in all six South Mississippi counties. The hub will connect those in the community around important volunteer initiatives including disaster response efforts.
It will also offer training and technical assistance to strengthen nonprofits, boards of directors, and volunteer programs. Hub Director Bridget Turan said, “They can go to the website and find out about any events that are happening in the community. They can also find out about volunteer opportunities that are going on. It’s one place for someone to go check out and see what’s happening.”
