Coming into the spring, Southern Miss Head Football Coach Jay Hopson said there were position battles all over the field.
On Saturday, the Black and Gold teams played like it during their annual spring game at the rock. Probably trying to impress celebrity coaches Brett Favre and Reggie Collier as the gold team edged out a 10-6 victory over the black squad.
Long Beach alum Trevor Terry played a big role in the win, hauling in a 64-yard touchdown, the first of the game for either team.
As spring ball winds down, Hopson isn’t picking favorites, but he is pleased with his team’s complimentary football. “Defensively, I don’t think it’s that big of a – we’ve got everybody back so I think installation isn’t really that big of a deal. Offensively, I think we’ve really done a great job there of expediting everything and our guys are picking it up quickly. So I’m pleased offensively that we’re getting in everything we’re getting in.”
The Golden Eagles wrap up their spring with one final practice tomorrow afternoon.
