The Walter Anderson Museum of Art is getting a fresh new look come April 15th.
A new exhibit called “Walter Anderson: Artist, Naturalist, and Mystic” will be showcased through the entire museum.
The exhibit is a retrospect of Walter Anderson’s work throughout his life. It will also be works in all of the mediums he used such as watercolor, pottery, and oil paintings.
Some of the pieces the museum is excited for are the works he made during his time in the mental hospital.
WAMA is also looking forward to showing the many sides of Anderson in a new light. WAMA Director of Collections and Exhibitions Mattie Codling said, “We are exploring the person of Walter Anderson through those three themes. So we are going to take you through the exhibit with this idea of how Walter created his natural subjects as an artist or as a naturalist or as a mystic, really connecting art and nature through the medium.”
The exhibit opens April 15th, but they will have an official opening reception on May 4th from 6 to 8 p.m.
