Last week it might have come as a bit of a surprise when Henrik Madsen resigned from his post as head boys soccer coach at Gulfport High School, but now we know the why behind the what.
Madsen has officially accepted the position as the head girls coach at Pearl River Community College, a hire that was approved by the school board earlier today.
Thus ending his nine-year run as head man of the Admirals, who are coming off back-to-back 6A state championships.
During his time at Gulfport, Madsen led the program to eight region 8 district titles as well as a winning percentage of more than 71 percent.
As for his new job, the Denmark native is taking over for Jack Byrd who stepped down last month after a decade at his alma mater to lead the Mississippi University for Women program.
