Road work is finally wrapping up on Courthouse Road.
The one mile stretch of road between Highway 90 and Pass Road was initially expected to be completed last summer. While crews are still touching up areas along the road, traffic is finally flowing smoothly again.
Businesses like Chillville on Courthouse Road tell News 25 the construction made it difficult to bring in customers.
Now that things are getting back to normal, business is starting to pick up. Chillville Creamery General Manager Haley Bell said, “We’ve actually had quite a bit of an increase in business since the road’s been finished. I know I talked to so many people and they said they would avoid the road most of the time just because of the construction. I myself would avoid the road most of the time. Now that the road has been finished people are more willing to get out and drive on it and visit all of the businesses.”
The original project began in late June 2017 and was projected to cost around five million dollars.
