The Krewe of Gemini wrapped up this Mardi Gras season tonight as they paraded the streets of downtown Gulfport.
Beads, along with lots of dancing and so much more, made this last parade of the Mardi Gras season one to remember. Parade attendee Reashad Mullins said, “I love Mardi Gras because all of the activities, all of the parades, all of the beads. Seeing the kids laughing, the families together. It’s just Mardi Gras. You can’t beat it.”
While those throws brought a smile to everyone’s faces who lined the streets of downtown Gulfport, it seemed to really spark a special light with some of the kids. “When they throw the big animals at me and I catch them it just makes me really happy.”
Krewe of Gemini member Susan Skaggs said, “I think my favorite part is seeing the kids and seeing how delighted they are when they get something special that comes their way.”
While thousands came to enjoy the parade, Krewe of Gemini members are honored to be celebrating 50 years and getting to be the ones to wrap up Mardi Gras on the Coast. King Jupiter Bob Olsen said, “It’s a wonderful group of people that work really hard and I am just proud to be with them and we’re just going to keep going. To another 50 years!”
