The Harrison County Soil and Water Conservation District hosted their annual Arbor Day Plant Giveaway this morning.
The district gave away live oaks, camellias, magnolias, and blueberry bushes, all for free in the name of Arbor Day.
The giveaway focused on the conservation of our natural resources while also providing education on the proper way to take care of plants and soil.
Thad Anderson of the Soil and Water District is happy with the turnout, as plenty of residents continue to show interest in properly conserving their plants. “I know we had at least 150 live oaks, maybe more and maybe more of that for the camellias and we ran out of live oaks, we ran out of blueberries too. We had blueberries.”
Anderson says the Soil and Water District plans to be back next Arbor Day, giving away even more plants.
