One person is dead and two more were sent to the hospital after a high-speed chase turned into a shooting.
This chase initially started a little after 5 p.m. in Harrison County after a traffic stop for what was believed to be a car-jacking turned into a chase.
Once the chase led into Stone County that’s when an occupant of the car started to fire shots at the troopers.
Then the car crashed off of the road and started to let off gunfire onto police. The troopers then fired back and as a result, the driver of the vehicle was shot as were two other people in the car. The driver was pronounced dead on scene and the other two were taken to a nearby hospital.
Since this was an officer-involved shooting they are treating it as crime scene and an active investigation.
