It was an exciting day for many local schools as they received STEM grants from Huntington Ingalls Industries.
For the past 11 years, Huntington Ingalls Industries has been awarding grants to local schools for STEM projects. This year they awarded $99,000 to 31 Gulf Coast schools.
Over the past 11 years, Huntington Ingalls Industries has awarded more than one million dollars for this program. Vice President of Human Resources and Administration Edmond Hughes said, “When you look at science, technology, engineering, and math, it is the future of our organization. We have to ensure that students are prepared early and that early involvement of kids to get them interested and to get them interested while they still have the time to take the course work that is required and this helps in that process. We are very pleased to be able to do that.”
Schools from Alabama and Mississippi received grants today.
