Scam phone calls in Pascagoula

The Pascagoula Police Department has received reports of scam phone calls claiming to be represented by them.

Reports flooded in over the weekend of residents receiving calls from people claiming to be a part of the Pascagoula Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Those calls would ask people to donate to the ‘Fallen Officer Benefit Fund.’

Pascagoula Police Captain Doug Adams urges residents to not give any money to anyone claiming to be a part of the Pascagoula Police Department. “We do not even have a type of fund like that. The police department, local police departments, sheriff’s departments are not going to call you on the phone and ask for money any day of the week.”

If you happen to receive a call asking for donations, Adams urges residents to call and report the number to your local police department.
