‘Thunder Over the Sound’ coming to Biloxi in May

This coming spring, the air will be filled again with flying jets, but this time it’s not the Blues Over Biloxi. It’s the Thunder Over the Sound: the Keesler and Biloxi Air and Space show. Keesler is partnering with the city to host the Thunderbirds. This spectacular show will be on May 4th and 5th. The event will take place over Keesler and then the Biloxi sound. This is the first air show of its kind to involve a joint effort between a city and military base. The air show date was moved from its original dates in April because of other events in the area.
The last time the thunderbirds flew in Biloxi was 2015, so they are excited to inspire the coast once again.
Major Branden Felker says, “You’re going to see loud, fast, but you’re also going to see what I would call grace. So you’ll see when the six jets come by and they’ll do what we call a bottom up pass. It’s almost; it kind of chokes you up a bit just because it’s so amazing, even to me watching it every day. So it’s going to be full of excitement, but it’s also going to be a little bit emotional.”
The shows will be free and open to the public. Gates will open at 7:30 a-m for the base show at Keesler, then at 1 p-m the airshow on the beachfront will begin.
