The Popp’s Ferry Bridge in Biloxi will be closing Friday night to replace a generator that powers the bridge.
The bridge will only be closed for eight hours at the most from 10 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Saturday. The work is being done through the night to avoid inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians. The waterway will remain open for boaters.
A recent study shows that roughly 20,000 vehicles travel the Popp’s Ferry Bridge on an average day. Vincent Creel with the City of Biloxi said, “We’re hoping that the local contractor can get in there, get the work done maybe in a couple of hours, but the city is giving them an eight hour window to overcome any issues they might find. We are asking you to please find an alternate route if you are going to be traveling during that time.”
