This afternoon, one man was sent to the hospital after his vehicle collided with a train in Biloxi.
Shortly after 2:30, Biloxi police and fire departments responded to the Gill Avenue railroad crossing where a train hit a vehicle. A male in his 80s was traveling south on Gill when he went to cross the tracks. The train and car collided as the train’s conductor was not able to stop.
The driver sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Major Chris De Back said, “He proceeded through the crossings while the train was coming and of course couldn’t stop. They collided here at Gill Avenue. It pushed him approximately 30 yards west of here.”
All railroad crossings were back up and running shortly after the accident.
