Giving back for the Holiday season

The holidays are all about giving back and what better way to do that than to help a family in need on the Gulf Coast.

News 25’s Kristen Anzuini spoke with one local family who could use a little extra help making Christmas special this year.

The holiday season is a tough time financially for many families like Bambi Dufrene from Waveland. Bambi is a single working mother of five children who are all under 12-years-old. “It’s a battle I’m facing just because I want to see my children wake up to something on Christmas morning.”

On top of the stress from the holidays, Bambi recently lost her job. “Losing one job and having to start another it has really taken a toll on me. It really has played a big part, I’ve been focused on bills, bills, and playing catch up.”

Bambi’s aunt reached out to News 25 and shared her heartbreaking story. Bambi’s oldest child is now in remission from a tough battle with cancer. “It’s something that I think about every single day. I’m thankful she is in remission, but we still got to go to the children’s hospital every year and that is the hardest day of my life.”

This year, Bambi, like many others, is struggling to make the holidays special for her five children, but she missed the deadline for many present-giving charities. “I can’t express enough how much it would mean to my children to have something underneath the tree.”

If you would like to help Bambi during the season of giving, you can donate to the GoFundMe page that her aunt set up. “I know this more than anything, from the smallest things to the biggest things, it’s gonna mean the world to my kids. The expressions on their face Christmas morning will mean a lot.”

The GoFundMe was made earlier this morning. Bambi says any amount would help her family celebrate Christmas. If you would like to help, click here.
