Back in 2011, New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton suffered a severe leg injury following a collision on the sideline against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Ever since then, those road game rivalries have been a little too close for comfort.
Dating back to that 2011 season, the Saints lead the series four games to three when the two NFC South foes meet up in Tampa. Now, all seven of those games have been decided by seven points or less including a 2013 affair that was delayed due to severe weather.
Then two years ago, Saints Quarterback Drew Brees threw three picks in one game, something he hasn’t done since. “Yeah, I mean I guess we’ve had some wild ones there. We’ve had some really close ones there. We’ve had, yeah. Had some monsoons, had Sean going down. That was wild. Yeah, when you play there – a divisional opponent – you play there once a year, I guess you’re bound to have some memories.”
The Saints and Bucs will kick things off from Raymond James Stadium at noon on Sunday.
