Sunday, December 2nd marked the first day of Hanukkah.
Celebrations of the Jewish holiday have begun across the Coast and now everyone will have the opportunity to be part of lighting the largest menorah in Mississippi. It will take place on Sunday, December 9th at 4:45 p.m. at Edgewater Mall.
Along with lighting the Menorah, there will be traditional Hanukkah foods, kids face-painting, and you can create your own Hanukkah t-shirt.
The event is free for everyone and will last about an hour. Rabbi Akiva Hall said, “Hanukkah really teaches everyone that with a little bit of extra light, with a little bit of extra push, everyone is able to make their own light in the world. As Jewish people and as Jewish families this is the time we come together and we remember that God cares about us and it’s a message for the whole world.”
If you’d like to attend the event, enter Books-A-Million on the south-side of the mall Sunday afternoon. It will take place near the carousel at 4:45 p.m.
