At the start of the season, the Saints were dealt the league’s second hardest schedule which has so far panned out to the opposition going 31-27-1 outside of games against the Saints.
Ready or not, it gets even worse in the second half with the Saints boasting the third-most difficult remaining schedule according to ESPN’s football power index.
Next up for the Saints is a road game against Cincinnati in the wake of Sunday’s Superdome shootout victory over the Rams. Saints quarterback Drew Brees said, “You’ve got to re-establish that identity each and every year. And as I looked at the schedule this year just week after week it’s like man, we’ve got to play these guys and then we’ve got to come back and play these guys and then it’s like every one of these opponents you feel like is Superman. And so you’ve just got to boil it down to man, just one week at a time and let’s just focus on our stuff and know that if we go out and play our best man, we’re going to be hard to beat. And just man, let’s just enjoy it and let’s play for one another. Sean creates that culture, first and foremost, Sean Payton. When it’s time to work it’s time to work and when it’s time to have fun it’s time to have fun, and we know how to do both pretty well.”
The Saints and Bengals kick things off from Cincinnati at noon on Sunday on WXXV on Fox.
