For the fourth week in a row, the New Orleans Saints are about to line it up against a team that currently ranks in the top third of the league in sacks. Next up is the Los Angeles Rams.
Right on cue, LA traded for Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler yesterday, bolstering what might’ve already been the most complete roster in the entire league.
As far as this week goes, that move may not phase the Saints who rank first in the league with just nine sacks allowed as Drew Brees continues to pace the NFL in completion percentage.
Even still, the Black and Gold remain on high alert heading into week nine. Saints quarterback Drew Brees said, “It’s really unheard of to have Suh and Donald in there, those guys are unbelievable. These guys just, man, they’ve got a ton of great players up front and then obviously they’re good on the back end as well. So they fly around, they play fast, they play aggressive, that’s what makes them so good.”
Saints left tackle Terron Armstead said, “He’s extremely talented, that’s for sure. Michael Brockers is a name you can’t leave out, he’s special. He’ll be mentioned with the others. It’s a very talented front, we’ve been seeing extremely talented defenses, last week was crazy. Last week, their front is amazing. So it’ll be a challenge, but we’ll be ready.”
The Saints and Rams will kick things off on WXXV on Fox at 3:25 p.m. Sunday from the Superdome.
