Something you don’t see every day when you drive past the Highway 613 Bridge in Moss Point are bras hanging along the side, except for Saturday that is.
The 2018 Bras across the River fun run and walk was filled with South Mississippians of all ages, dressed to impress in their best pink shirts and hats.
This race is sponsored each year by the Singing River Federal Credit Union and helps to raise money for breast cancer research. Cancer survivor Pamela Taylor-Scaife said, “This race is so important because it brings awareness to everyone, not just people who have had cancer, but also the family members who are more reluctant to take the test as they should. It just brings awareness.”
Cancer survivor Jasmine Anderson said, “At that time and point when you go through chemo and radiation, you know that you can make it, because I made it and it gives you hope that you can live to see another day.”
Last year’s fun run raised $13,000 and officials tell News 25 this year exceeded that amount by a long stretch.
