Even police vehicles can look pretty in pink as the Gulfport Police Department wrapped one of their vehicles to raise awareness for breast cancer.
Officers will hit the streets of Gulfport in this Durango and feature different breast cancer survivors to take a picture and sign the vehicle. Harrison County Circuit Clerk Connie Ladner was the first to sign as this is her fifth year as a breast cancer survivor.
Gulfport police tell News 25 the vehicle is a sign of recognition for everyone affected by this disease. Gulfport Police Chief Leonard Papania said, “It’s important we bring attention to it. Hopefully we can encourage people to take preventive maintenance for it and become survivors.”
Ladner said, “I hope this gets information out and encourages someone that maybe hasn’t thought about it to maybe go to the doctor or do what they need to do. It could save their life.”
If you would like to sign and take a picture with the police vehicle contact the Gulfport Police Department through social media or call 228-868-5900.
