The City of Biloxi is also preparing for all events associated with the 2018 Cruisin’ the Coast which will take place September 29th through October 7th.
To prepare for all the added traffic during the events, the city has rolled out a traffic plan. The plan limits Highway 90 traffic to one-lane westbound and one-lane eastbound between I-110 in Biloxi and Cowan Road in Gulfport and the two interior lanes will be used by emergency vehicles.
Biloxi Police Chief John Miller tells News 25 the sight of the orange cones down Highway 90 may be new to most cruisers. “I know the cones are not popular and people don’t care for them, but it gives us the ability if traffic gridlocks to lock down one lane and still get the emergency services and move traffic a little quicker.
This year, during the block party, there will also be additional parking downtown where the old courthouse used to stand.
