Harrison County sheriff’s investigators say a Gulfport man admitted to beating his own son out of anger because the child wouldn’t stop crying.
According to Sheriff Troy Peterson, AMR was called to the home on Campbell Circle regarding a two-month-old who had difficulty breathing. The child was taken to Memorial Hospital with severe head trauma.
While interviewing the child’s parents, investigators say 21-year-old Buddy Cox admitted he struck the child. Cox was taken to the Harrison County Jail and held under a $100,000 bond.
The infant is now receiving care in Mobile and is in critical condition.
