Harrison County educators prepare for the new school year

We are two weeks away from the start of school for the Harrison County School District. Today, educators gathered to get energized for the new school year.

About one hundred principals, assistant principals, instructional literacy coaches, and district directors participated in the school district’s ‘Leadership Day.’ The educators heard from State Representative Richard Bennett who is the new chairman of the Mississippi House Education Committee.

They also heard from former Louisiana Teacher of the Year and best-selling author Dr. Debbie Silver who shared some insight into the ‘art of teaching.’ Harrison County School District Assistant Superintendent Sherry Washburn said, “Her message is much like our philosophy and that is that we never give up on a child and we know that each and every one of them are individuals. There are no two children alike. Just keep caring and working with them.”

The educators also participated in team-building activities in preparation for the new school year.
