Biloxi Shuckers center fielder Corey Ray has been tabbed as the Southern League Player of the week for the first time in his career.
Certainly a well-deserved honor for the former first-round pick with a batting average of .478 and seven extra base hits across six games. The latter led the league from July 16th to the 22nd as did his 11 hits overall and 24 total bases.
For the season, the number six prospect of the Milwaukee Brewers leads all ten teams in extra base hits, doubles, total bases, and stolen bases while his 19 home runs are tied for the league lead with teammate Jake Gatewood.
Shuckers were back at it again tonight, putting their seven game winning streak on the line against the Jackson Generals. The Generals win 2-1. Game two is tomorrow at 6:05.
