Today should be a transition day from wet to relatively drier and hot. Precipitation levels will begin to tapper-off tonight with a trend of lowering showers/t-storms numbers for the weekend. Drier air moving into the area could provide the opportunity for t-storms to collapse rapidly causing strong downburst/surface winds.
Heat index values will go up quite a bit over the next 48 hours. Some numbers could be 110+ as we move into the weekend and even the start of next week. A heat advisory will likely be issued later today.
High pressure will dominate through the weekend before the next low-pressure system moves in early next week. This will bring our precip chances back to normal or above next week breaking the oppressive heat. There is an outside possibility of a lower dew point surge moving in as a back door front that may bring mid 60F dew point air to at least a small portion of the area.
