After heavy rains hit Harrison County over the last few days, the Humane Society of South Mississippi is now in the process of repairing several parts of their roof which collapsed yesterday.
No pets were injured, but parts of the ceiling in different ‘dog zones’ fell through, causing flooding inside the kennels.
News 25 spoke with Katie King who gives us an update on the cleanup. “We’ve had roofers come out this morning and assess the situation and give us a lot of estimates to repair the roof. We were able to temporarily fix it today and luckily we haven’t had any huge rain storms.”
King says the cleanup was quick thanks in part to all volunteers in the community. The shelter is planning to reopen their doors tomorrow.
