Today a Long Beach resident opened a drive thru coffee shop in the City of Long Beach, something she says is the first of its kind.
“I’m tired. I’ve just worked really hard for other people and I just wanted to put that energy into myself.” Lisa Owens says the drive to be an entrepreneur mixed with her love for coffee inspired her journey to become the owner of the Coffee Box. “I thought it would be a retirement plan and then I just decided I don’t want to wait until I’m 60 so I’m going to start now.”
Coffee lovers on the run will now be able to get a taste of fresh coffee while on the go in Long Beach. “You don’t have to worry about getting out of the car, getting the kids out of the car. It’s really fast. If you’re in a hurry you don’t need to worry about being late.”
Owens tells News 25 the Coffee Box is built with the customer experience in mind. She says the small space will allow each drink to be made in about a minute. “It’s a 12 by 16 so it’s pretty small, but the importance of that is that everything is in your arms reach so you can work really quickly and get drinks out really fast.”
The Coffee Box offers a variety of coffee styles with 20 flavors to choose from. They also offer cold brews, brewed for about 36 hours, as well as frozen lemonades and frozen hot chocolates. “Right now we just have our starter menu to get going. Everything is expresso based so it’s always nice and fresh.”
Owens says as the business expands, she will also expand the menu. “Coffee is just what I love. It’s where I want to be. It’s my passion.”
