On Monday, the Supreme Court gave the go-ahead for sports betting.
Illegal sports betting already generates roughly $150 billion a year nationwide. This new ruling from the high court could potentially mean a lot of Coast casinos could start to cash in on new revenue legally.
Biloxi Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich told News 25 he believes legal sports betting is going to be an interesting change for the Coast. He says he spent March Madness in Las Vegas and is now looking forward to having the same sort of excitement during big sporting events on the Gulf Coast. “I don’t know if you have ever seen the sports booking in Las Vegas, but it’s like being at a number of sporting events of every kind at the same time so how we feel in a little bit lower scale, it will be just like that in Biloxi and when the bowl games come along and the big tournaments that excitement will be in Biloxi. It’s going to be a really cool thing.”
Coast casinos are now working to get the proper equipment needed for sports betting.
