Mark your calendars for the year 2068.
Students and teachers at Pecan Park Elementary in Ocean Springs buried a time capsule this afternoon. Over five hundred students from kindergarten through third grade each took turns pouring dirt on the capsule. Inside the capsule is a yearbook, cafeteria menu, class pictures, a cell phone, fidget spinner and many other toys popular in 2018.
News 25 asked students what the year 2068 will be like and here’s what they had to say. “There is a lot more fun stuff in the world, not just like slides and stuff, more like flying slides.” “I think there’s going to be flying cars.” “Maybe time travel.”
Pecan Park Elementary Principal Chris Lebatard said, “We thought it would be fun for the kids to bury the time capsule and come back in 50 years and see and remember what it was like to be in elementary school 50 years ago.”
This is the first time for a time capsule to be buried at Pecan Park Elementary.
