Residents and business owners in St. Martin continue to clean up after an EF-1 tornado with winds of 105 MPH caused damage on Saturday.
Electricity was returned to some businesses on Lemoyne Boulevard around 3 p.m. this afternoon. The parking lot is still littered with debris and damaged cars which were tossed by the tornado.
Two visitors tell News 25 they were inside a comic book store when they saw the storm approaching. That’s when their car was crushed by an awning. Pamela Parish said, “It’s just kind of a shocking thing to have a door start flapping and then the window went black and then it just, then Grant said get to the back of the store. We all basically shoved us in front of him and then it was over.”
Some businesses hope to reopen this week while others tell News 25 it could take months.
