Harrison Central High competes for $75,000

A local high school has been chosen to compete in the Van’s Custom Culture Shoe Design.
Students at Harrison Central High School have the chance to win a $75,000 grand prize for their art program. The high school was selected along with 500 other public and private schools across the country to design two different shoes for the shoe brand ‘Vans.’
Along with the shoes, students also have to submit how they think the money will benefit the school and community. Sophomore Selena Hickman said, “This year we’re actually working really hard on the shoes and we actually think we have a chance at winning. It’s a really big opportunity for us to upgrade our art supply for classrooms and stuff.”
Judging will begin in April and the top 50 entries will be voted on by the public from April 23rd through May 4th.
