Saline shortage

This year, hurricanes have wiped out a major portion of Puerto Rico. According to the FDA, Puerto Rico produces 40 billion dollars’ worth of pharmaceuticals like saline for the U.S. market.
Since the storms, many hospitals have been feeling the side effects. Memorial Hospital at Gulfport and Singing River Health Systems told News 25 that since the disruption in Puerto Rico, the hospitals have worked to make sure that they are able to continue their medical treatment without issue.
Saline has a multitude of uses such as cleaning instruments, mixing with other drugs, and just simply replacing fluids in patients.
