WASHINGTON (AP) Former NFL quarterback Joe Theismann says he was sickened by seeing the video of Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward breaking his left ankle.
Theismann also tells The Associated Press in a telephone interview Wednesday that he would be available to chat with Hayward and offer advice if the NBA player wants.
In 1985, Theismann’s right leg was broken on a sack by Lawrence Taylor during a game between the Washington Redskins and New York Giants on ”Monday Night Football.” Theismann was 36 at the time and did not appear in another NFL game.
Hayward was hurt Tuesday night in the first quarter of his first game with Boston.
Theismann tweeted: ”Felt so bad for Hayward.”
