Graduation celebration at Pelican Landing

In an effort to get students focused on graduating from high school and college, Reverend Robert Coakley of Good Hope Baptist in Moss Point hosts a dinner every year to celebrate recent graduates in the community.
The event was held at the Pelican Landing in Moss Point and featured food, dancing, and recognizing this year’s graduates. Part of the event included an encouraging message by member of the Good Hope Baptist Church and recently elected Mayor Mario King, who talks about the importance of giving back to his community. “It’s really exciting because I can give back in a way that’s service oriented. I can give back to those who did great for me and really I can spearhead some of the change and turn some of those bad choices into good choices into challenging times, but good times and bring some awareness to our community.”
Pastor Coakley says it is an honor to have one of his own children of the church to be a leader in the community. Other members of the church are proud to call Moss Point home and hope to see the youth return one day to continue its legacy.
