South Mississippi voters headed to the polls this morning, many weighing in on their mayoral candidates.
In Biloxi, Incumbent Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich faces off against Democrat Sugar Stallings. In Bay St. Louis, Democrat Mike Favre and Republican Jeff Harding go head to head.
In Moss Point, Incumbent and Independent Billy Broomfield is running against Independents Wanda Williams and Timothy Dubose, Democrat Mario King, and Republic John Mosely Jr. In Pascagoula, Democrat Jenafer Gurley, Republican Dane Maxwell and Independent Lazaro Rovira are all hoping to take Mayor Jim Blevins’ spot. Blevins chose not to run for re-election. Incumbent Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran faces Republican Shea Dobson.
Here is what South Mississippians are looking for in their candidates. Voter Tony Mattina said, “Making sure that people have the option to own a business, of course streets and drainage, parks and recreation for kids, things like that. If you widen your tax base it should alleviate some of the pressure through taxes on the residents.”
Polls close at 7 p.m. Be sure to tune in to our evening newscasts for election results.
