Biloxi Fire Department jumps into summer

The Biloxi Fire Department celebrated the Memorial Day Weekend family style at their annual Jump into Summer Festival.
The festival featured hourly fire truck rides and interactive fire safety education activities, as well as several of MDOT’s interactive traffic safety exhibits. Southern Bouncers Inflatables were also on hand providing plenty of amusement.
Biloxi Fire Chief Joe Boney tells News 25 that this growing tradition is one of his department’s most valuable tools for educating children on fire safety. “There’s bounce houses, water slides, pony rides, everything. Mixed into that we also have stuff to teach children about fire safety. We have a smoke house, they can see what it’s like when their house is full of smoke. They can see what it’s like to stop, drop, and roll, spray a water hose. They can ride fire trucks. It’s all geared to teach kids a little about safety.”
Proceeds from the event go to the West End Hose Company Fire Museum.
