Earlier today the Shuckers launched a new campaign to engage the local community through baseball. A kids clinic series, led by team ambassador Barry Lyons, will give youngsters the chance to hone their skills over the summer.
Hands-on instruction will be given by the former New York Mets catcher and 1986 World Series champion, as well as some of the minor league players.
Yet another way for the Shuckers to dig their roots even deeper in Biloxi. “Baseball, minor league baseball is for all ages, and it’s an amazing way to give back to this community and offer something that’s very special. And that is the baseball experience. I mean every season that I played this game, the goal was to win a championship. Now as a partner in the organization itself, our goal is to be a champion for this community,” said Lyons.
There will be four one-day sessions available for kids five through 12. May 31st and June 12th for ages five to eight and June 1st and June 13th for nine to 12.
