Big crowds expected at Bicentennial Celebration

The party is just getting started at Centennial Plaza as tomorrow night’s performance from the Band Perry is expected to draw thousands.
This afternoon, live music acts played throughout the day and attendees took advantage of an impressive spread made up of some of Mississippi’s finest cuisines.
Miss Issippi, the official host of the bicentennial party, tells News 25 it’s the perfect event for the whole family and a great opportunity to have fun while learning about our state’s history. Miss. Issippi Jaimee Dorris said, “I think this is a great time to stop and celebrate not just where we’re going, but where we’ve been and where we are today. I think it’s a fantastic opportunity to celebrate 200 years. I also think it’s really cool that they asked me to be Miss Issippi because there’s not going to be another one for 100 years so I feel like I have a century reign. I think that’s so awesome.”
Gates at Centennial Plaza will open at 10 a.m. tomorrow. The Band Perry is slated to play at 6 p.m.
