After the Mississippi house voted on Wednesday to pass a bill organizing efforts to collect taxes from amazon and others that sell goods to Mississippians from outside the state…it has been held on a motion to reconsider.
That means the house will have to vote on it again before it heads to the senate.
The bill earmarks the revenue for road and bridge work, with shares going to counties and cities.
Estimate collections are between $50 and $150 million a year which is short of the $400-million-plus that transportation officials say they need to prevent deterioration.
Some republicans attack the bill as a tax increase.
In the house vote Wednesday House Bill 480 passed 79-38.
No word on when the house will Re-Vote.
