Ocean Springs Night Parade Permit Approved

After the initial misunderstanding delayed Ocean Springs City Council from granting a permit for a popular Mardi Gras parade, a special meeting was called tonight at City Hall.
Mayor Connie Moran and members of the Board of Alderman voted unanimously to approve the permit with Chief of Police Mark Dunston present at the meeting. The parade is slated for Friday, February 24th.
After discussing the necessary precautions and concerns of the police department, Chic Cody with the City Council tells News 25 that the board is confident that next year’s night parade will be a safe and fun atmosphere for those who choose to attend. “It was a matter of trying to determine those areas of concern and iron them out and get them to the surface so that everyone knew about them and had a chance to voice their opinion. We’ve done that and I think we have a good plan and we’re going forward with it.”
Last year, the Ocean Springs Night Parade drew somewhere between thirty and forty thousand people to spectate.
