Thanksgiving in the Woods Volunteers Needed

While many families prepare to sit down around a nice Thanksgiving dinner this week, many of our homeless population wonder if they’ll even eat that day.
That’s why Shepherd of the Gulf is sponsoring “Thanksgiving in the Woods” this year, bringing complete Thanksgiving meals to those homeless people or campers living outside.
They’ll have their Thanksgiving on Saturday and volunteers and donations are needed. If you have any leftovers you’re willing to part with, all cooked food items and supplies can be delivered to the Handsboro Community Center Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Food will be served at 11:30 and then deliveries to the campers will go out after that. Shepherd of the Gulf Executive Director Lynda Favre said, “You don’t see this happening enough that the people join in together, the community joins in together and share their heart with these people. They’re strangers, but like I say a stranger is just a friend we haven’t met yet. We’re kind of extending our family out to the campers and bringing them a good meal that they can enjoy all day long.”
